BB Boulevard Books author, S. M. Brentt, dreamed of writing children's books for many years but felt the timing was never right unless the books could be both, impactful and insightful.  Despite having a career and experiences addressing legal issues in daycare centers, special education, and advocating for literacy, her ultimate motivation stemmed from her son who awakened her writing and made the time right. 

     In 2017, with a draft of her first book in hand, Brentt met with Emily Fabrizi, an illustrator who possessed the right combination of artistic talent, youthful perspective, and a good heart.  Within Fabrizi, Brentt found the open-mindedness and creativity she needed in an illustrator to realistically and empathetically illustrate the diverse BB Boulevard characters as they face modern social challenges in the stories. 

    Realizing that her writing can be entertaining AND transformative, Brentt decided to continue the series and tackle common early childhood social issues.  Brentt believes no child is born a bully, but if certain behaviors continue unchecked, then, in time, their behaviors can be deemed mean and offensive.  Hence, the BB Boulevard series evolved to capture children's attention before they engage in bullying behaviors, develop stereotypes in their minds, and become avid social media users.
